Second Hand News – Clearaudio, Meadowlark and Rogue

(Real audiophiles buy used and we all know it. So here are some second-hand deals that caught my eye as I perused the usual sites looking for love in all the wrong places… no affiliation on my end and no guarantee of satisfaction in any way)

Clearaudio Concept with Ortofon Bronze – asking $880 at US Audio Mart. Good price for a turntable that by all accounts is a top performer in the $1-2k territory. Nice cartridge thrown is as well. Anyone running a sub-$500 tt looking for an upgrade should take a long look at this.

Meadowlark Kestral 2 speakers – This is a local only situation – seller is offering $430 for pick-up in Brooklyn Heights (that’s ah… in Brooklyn NY). These are beloved cult speakers, very cool looking and supposedly a sweet sweet sound that pairs well with tubes. On more than a few occasions I have resolved to go buy these for my office only to stop myself when I realized what a pain in the arse it would be. So so tempting though. (And, well, they’ve been available for a while… bet you could make an offer).

Rogue Sphinx Integrated – $600 at US Audio Mart. Come on! The original Sphinx WITH REMOTE for 600 smackers. Let’s go champ. Everybody frickin flippin likes this amp. It’s become an era-defining piece. I’m tempted to buy it myself – if I hadn’t been on such a buying spree lately leaving me with a shit-ton of shit to sell, well… I’d be on this like white on rice.
