(Real audiophiles buy used and we all know it. So here are some second-hand deals that caught my eye as I perused the usual sites looking for love in all the wrong places… no affiliation on my end and no guarantee of satisfaction in any way)
Primare I22 – asking for $599 plus $75 shipping on the Gon. These run $1800 new and have a reputation for being very well built. 80wpc Class D, no built-in DAC. Designed in Sweden… built who knows where. But a very nice price for an integrated from a well-reviewed audiophile brand. Here’s a review from ToneAudio.
Simaudio Moon 280D DAC with Mind 2 Streamer – Asking $1850 at US Audio Mart. The Mind 2 means that this is a Roon Ready streaming unit with an ethernet input. I had one of these DAC’s and I thought it was spectacular, the best Delta Sigma DAC I’ve heard. And I wasn’t the only one – dacmeister Michael Lavorgna gave it a rave at AudioStream with the closing line “If you have to, pretend it costs a lot more.” This one has been on the market for a while so I’m sure an offer can be made, and I feel confident in saying that $1600-1800 is not going to buy a better sounding streaming digital component anywhere else.
Vinnie Rossi Lio – Asking $3700 at AudioCircle. As configured retail was around $10k. Has the phono stage. NOS Teles in the pre-amp section. Very nice price for one of the most respected integrateds around.
